In 1972, John Berger telecasted a serial “Ways of Seeing” in BBC Television. The moment it was broadcasted a great sensation was created. It led the viewers to raise questions to the visual media about existing viewpoints. At this point of time, Penguin Publications compiled it in a form of a book. For the publication, Berger and his assistants changed its style from dialogue script to detailed explanation. John Berger grounded his ideas on German photographer Holter Beniyamin’s Punartpaadan.
